My Design Journal

inspiration, ideas & things I love

I've been rearranging rooms for as long as I can remember. My mom used to find me moving furniture around at 8am on a Saturday. Now I keep a design journal where I collect photos, color swatches, and sketches of rooms I want to create someday. Here's a peek inside.

My Design Style

what I always come back to

🌿

Bring the outside in

Plants, natural wood, stone textures — if it exists in nature, it belongs in a room. My favorite rooms feel like they grew there.

☀️

Light is everything

Before I pick a single color or piece of furniture, I look at where the light comes from. Sunlight changes everything.

🛋️

Cozy beats perfect

I don't care about rooms that look like a magazine but feel cold. I want to walk in and immediately want to stay.

🎨

Colors should feel like feelings

I pick colors based on how I want a room to feel — calm, happy, adventurous. The color comes after the feeling.

Things I've Actually Done

My Bedroom — Version 6

Moved the bed to face the window so I wake up with morning light. Added a floating shelf for my plants and a corkboard for my design inspiration clippings. My mom said this is the best version yet. (My mom has said this every version.)

The Living Room Fix

Our living room felt way too dark. I moved the couch away from the wall (which apparently is a rule — I had no idea), added a big mirror near the window to bounce light, and rearranged so there was actually space to walk around. Everyone noticed but no one could figure out what changed.

My Desk Corner

Turned the corner of my room into a proper design studio — art supplies sorted by type, a small plant, my sketchbook, and a jar of colored pencils arranged by color because it just looks so much better that way.
